The Exchange Club of Utah Valley named Provo City Police Officer Sgt. Mark Crosby as the 2016 Police Officer of the Year Wednesday.

Crosby started his law enforcement career at the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, and two years later joined Provo Police Department. Over the past 22 years at Provo, he has been a bike patrol officer, field training officer, SWAT team member, rifle marksman, defensive tactics instructor, firearms instructor, and a member of the Honor Guard Team. He is a supervisor over the COP team in the Special Operations Division, is also the Department Crisis Intervention Team coordinator as well as Firearms and Bike Team supervisor.

Crosby was nominated for his “consistent example of fidelity, dedication, and integrity” in his service to those in law enforcement as well as the citizens of Provo.

This Exchange Club is a service group, and the award program is designed to honor men and women who serve as police officers in our community. The award serves as a magnifying glass which enables the public to see a clearer view of what police work is all about.
